Triple Luck

As you know I have been fishing quite a bit since I got back to Sweden, and yes... I still love fishing those days I do not catch anything. Saying that, I LOVE the the days when I do. A couple of weeks ago I went to our local put-and-take lakes to teach Camille fly-fish. As we did not catch anything we decided to spend one more day at the lakes. The only way you can fail is by giving up:)

This particular day I was lucky. Only a couple of hours into our day I caught my first trout. Being just over a kilo it wasn't a giant but after my last attempt I was stoked that I finally succeeded to trick one of them.

We had some grilled sausage (low fat of course) and a couple of cups of coffee. Just after lunch it was time for number two. It was a bit heavier than the first one but not in as good condition as the first one. Still twice the excitement:)

As you might understand I was pretty happy about finally catch some fish and restore some of my lost ego after our pike fishing and a unsuccessful day of trout fishing. The sun was about to go down when...

Number three. Not only did I catch some trout, I broke my own record of a days fishing in Harasjömåla put and take waters. After three fish it did not matter much that I lost another fish only minutes after landing my third one. Four trout would have been great but three is good enough to me.

Hamburg...

As you know I have been around a bit in europe over the last couple of months. Last time I was in Hamburg I went to see my new agent Model Team, Hamburg and some of their clients.

Even though I grew up only a few hours away from Hamburg I have never been before and I must say that that was a mistake. I now put Hamburg as one of my new favorite cities. It could have something to do with I arrived with perfect timing of the arrival of summer but I honestly think that even during the coldest winter day or the rainiest autumn afternoon I would appreciate Hamburg for it's history, architecture and just plain great fun.

I also realized that there are two thing the germans do better than most. Bread and beer. Unfortunately bread and beer isn't a fitness junkies best friend so moderation is the key. I guess it is lucky that I am not staying in europe for too long:)

Fly fishing...

I count myself as a pretty competitive person. In most cases I think this is a good trait. The only bad thing is that when I loose or somehow get beaten I tend to sulk. But then again, I do have a couple of things I enjoy doing where I am happy even though I am not winning. I mentioned a few month ago that I have taken up surfing which is one of those activities. The problem is, I am in sweden where there basically are no surf and spring equals freezing cold water.

Flyfishing... that is another thing I really enjoy. To be out in the woods for hours even days. Sure, I love to catch a big fish but still this is one of those things I can spend the whole day doing and walk home empty handed and feel okay with it.

Yesterday I went to the local put and take lakes in Olofström. Camille joined me for a whole day of practizing casting and attempt to catch a trout or two. The day started grey, some rain and rather windy. Some sandwiches and coffee later the weather changed for what you se on the pitcure. An awesome day... so even though we walked home empty I felt satisfied.

Day Trip to Copenhagen

I have now been back to Sweden for about a week and after a few too many coffees, cakes and welcome home meals it was time to visit my Swedish agent Sweden Models. I needed to figure out if there is any work for me here. I have also thought about getting another test shoot done so hopefully Therese can help me with that.

I am very lucky working with so many nice people. Martin De Courtney and Chadwick models have always looked after me and arriving to Malmö I felt nothing but welcomed by Therese and Camilla at Sweden Models. After a short chat we decided that I should head up to Göteborg and Borås to do see some swedish clients.

As it was still early and I didn't need to be in Göteborg until following day I decided to take Camille to Copenhagen for a walk on one of Denmark most famous streets, Strøget. We left the car in Malmö and jumped on the train over the bridge. It was nice to be able to relax a bit as the following day was going to be a busy one.

8 below zero

I have been planning a trip to Sweden to do some work and at the same time catch up with my family.

As I am writing this blog entry I am sitting in my family kitchen, drinking a cup of coffee. The ground outside is covered in a thin layer of snow and the thermometer is showing 2 degrees below zero.

Even though I am a summer kind of guy who likes the beaches of Sydney and getting toasty in the sun there is something special about a cold spring day in Sweden.

Yesterday the temperature fell to 8 degrees below zero and I decided to do a trip to the local smokery to grab some freshly smoked eel, mackerel and salmon. Seafood at it's best.

Growing up by the sea, smoking have always been my preferred way of cooking seafood. Even though you can get both cold and hot smoked salmon in Sydney I find that smoking seafood is underestimated as a cooking method. I will make some research and see if I can bring some new found smoking skills to bring back to Sydney.

Sweden here I come..

First I want to excuse my behavior of ceasing my blog entries without warning. I guess it has been several factors involved. First I succeeded to break my camera so I could not take any photos. For you to realize in what pace I live my life I broke a Olympus 795 SW which accordingly to to advertising can handle an active lifestyle. It is waterproof to 10m, shock proof and could handle a pressure of 100 kg. Of course this wasn't enough and it stopped working 2 months after the warranty went out. Trust me to succeed with that one.

Secondly I must admit I have been a bit lazy, I have had lots on my plate and therefor I should have a lot to write about but this is where I suspect laziness snuck up on me.

The third factor is that my plans have changed radically. I am leaving to Sweden in two weeks. It was 2 years ago I saw my family back in sweden and the right time came up as I just finished shooting 10 Years younger for Channel 7.

Sweden, Here I come.
